Monika Thadhani

Monika Thadhani, AIA, NCARB, Architect, Designer and Urban Planner, Adjunct Professor at College of Architecture, IIT Chicago. She has been also teaching and lecturing at International Architecture Workshop in Venice at IUAV, working on a conceptual projects such as “Mose”, “Sea Scraper”, “Venice Towers", “Inverted Urbanism” and “Urban Innovation”. She has also taught and lectured at Summer International Architectural Workshop, 2017 "Architectural Innovation-Inverted Urbanism" at ETSAB in Barcelona. She is a Founder and Principal of MoNa Architecture, Design and Planning and an adjunct professor at Illinois Institute of Technology. She is also a Founder of “Education for Future” non-profit organization focused on providing access to education in the 3rd world countries by funding, designing and building school facilities in distressed areas. She is also an expert of the International Architectural Organization, Laka Reacts, which connects the practice of Architecture from all over the world in developing relevant and authentic solutions to specific social issues. She received her Master in Architecture from Illinois Institute of Technology in Chicago and another Master in Architecture from the University of Technology in Wroclaw, Poland. She has over 16 years of professional experience in Architecture. She was recently recognized with BD+C (Building Design and Construction) 40 under 40 award as “Influential Individual” for her achievements and strong design leadership in architectural design along with her influence in creating dialogue between practice and academia.



Christopher Groesbeck

Christopher Groesbeck, AIA, NCARB, AIA, NCARB, LEED AP is an Architect, Designer and Urban Planner as well as an Adjunct Professor at College of Architecture, IIT Chicago. where he teaches senior level design studio’s focused on “Rethinking Metropolis”. A former Principal at VOA Associates Inc. with 35 years of experience where he established the Beijing Office is a founder and Principal and managing partner of MoNa Architecture, Design and Planning office. His professional involvement includes memberships to the AIA, Urban Land Institute and the Strategic Advisory Board for the Chicago School of Real Estate at Roosevelt University in Chicago. He is also a partner of “Education for Future” non-profit organization focused on providing access to education in the 3rd world countries and an expert of the International Architectural Organization, Laka Reacts. He has over 36 years of professional experience with an expertise in city and community planning as well as design of public assembly spaces and mixed use developments for corporate and institutional clients both nationally and internationally. He received his Master of Architecture from the University of Illinois in Champaign. His professional work has won numerous awards including the prestigious ULI Global Award of Excellence for the Wabash Tower at Roosevelt University in Chicago. His work is published internationally and is represented in the United States, the EU, the Mideast, Asia and South America. He is licensed throughout the United States.



Carles Crosas
co-director / Tutor

Carles Crosas is a PhD Architect and Lecturer (ETSA Barcelona). He has been teaching Urbanism at the Barcelona School of Architecture since 2001 and has been invited to universities in Europe and America. Current Vice Dean for International Relations in ETSAB he is former collaborator and assistant teacher to Professor Manuel de Solà-Morales. Predoctoral Fellowship UPC-DUOT 2001-04, he is a researcher at the Barcelona Laboratory of Urbanism where he is coordinator and participant in various international projects dealing with historical grid transformation, collective urban spaces and cogenerative design. He presented his PhD dissertation on the urban transformation of La Habana (2009).



Eloi Ruana Gironès

Eloi Ruana Gironès, Architect, Designer and Planner born in and has been practicing architecture in both Spain and the United States. His professional experience includes work in internationally recognized office of Miralles Tagliabue EMBT in Barcelona. He has also worked in United States at the offices of Zoka Zola Architecture plus Urban Design and HDR in Chicago. He leads the MoNa Architecture Design and Planning in the EU collaborating directly with the Chicago office. He has been teaching assistant at College of Architecture at Illinois Institute of Technology co-teaching with Monika Thadhani and Christopher Groesbeck as well as co-teaching with them at architectural and international workshops both at ETSAB in Barcelona and IUAV, the Faculty of Architecture at the University of Venice. He is currently collaborating in a non-profit organization called Education for Future. He has graduated at Polytechnic University of Catalunya Escola Superior d’ Arquitectura de Barcelona and he received his Master in Architecture at Polytechnic University of Madrid Escuela Superior de Arquitectura de Madrid and studied at College of Architecture at Illinois Institute of Technology in Chicago.
